What is the Pledge?
The Pledge is the centerpiece of most school’s fundraising efforts. As part of the Pledge, families are asked to contribute a monetary gift to Elysian Heights Elementary.
The Pledge helps support those educational and extracurricular programs (art, science and physical education to name a few) that are not funded by the State of California Education funding model. Money raised by the Pledge will provide a crucial portion of our school’s annual operating budget and will help ensure the quality of our students’ educational experience.
Our 2017-2018 fundraising goal is $50,000 and the Pledge plays a major role in meeting this goal. In addition, the Elysian Heights Parents Association (EHPA) in collaboration with our non-profit partner, Once Upon A December, will be hosting a number of fundraising events throughout the school year.
How Can Families Contribute?
There are a variety of way to contribute. Families can contribute monthly, with one lump sum, or with multiple gifts throughout the year as they are able (for example, you may make one gift in the fall and then make another gift in the spring after receiving your tax refund). Gifts can range from $20 to an excess of $1,000. Please choose a plan that works for your family.
We encourage every family to budget an annual gift for the school year. Consider this an investment of our school and community that your child will enjoy for years to come. Elysian Heights is a charitable organization and donations are 100% tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Our goal is 100% participation. Help us reach this goal by giving generously if you are able. And please remember that if you are unable to donate money, you can offer your time and talents! With our combined efforts we can grow our school together.
Why is the Pledge Needed?
Budget cuts! Because of recent cuts, our school is not able to offer as many programs and resources as we’d like. In the past seven years, our Supplemental Funds have gone down 70%. Our school wants more for our students than the bare minimum. With our fundraising efforts, we will be able to provide a more enriched school experience.
Who Decides How Money is Spent?
You do! Every parent at Elysian Heights Elementary is automatically a member of EHPA, which means you can come to any meeting and vote. Be a part of the decision making process by coming to meetings, joining the discussion, and voting. You can also complete a form and bring it to the office with your payment. Please make all checks payable to “Elysian Heights Elementary.” You can opt to make your donation all at once or via monthly payments.
